Paradise is a Garden, 2020

Project Type:
Public Art, Mural, Protest Art, Street Art

Paradise is a Garden is a 8’ x 10’ mural in downtown Oakland, California. An artistic response to this political movement, we honor the man who inspired it all. We juxtaposed black silhouettes of botanical motifs against the bright papaya colored wall. Quick, impromptu and imperfect, we created this work with less than 50$ and did not ask for permission as an effort to reclaim public space and messaging at a major site of protest.

Also another artist, Joe Keffe, created this photograph riffing off our work. I love to see it:

It was actually Lisa’s idea to do it. Here she is <3
